SHOWCASE OF DANCE COMMITTEE

Envision a morning in January and school bus after school bus pulling up in front of the Newman Center for the Performing Arts. Hundreds of elementary school kids and their teachers, primarily from title one schools in underserved neighborhoods, stream into the theater full of excitement. Over the next hour they will be entertained by a Master of Ceremonies and three different dance companies. They may see Indian dance, Cleo Parker Robison, Ariel ballet, Boulder Ballet, Colorado Ballet, breakdancing or others.

This magic happens over two days and four performances for 1,800 kids. DBG pays for the buses, invites the schools, hires the venue and contracts with the dance companies to perform. Here are some ways you can help:

      • Student Greeters – Welcome students, share smiles, and help them find their seats
      • School Group Coordinators – Assist with check-in, bus flow, and group logistics
      • Backstage Support – Help performers stay organized, calm, and ready to shine
      • Hospitality Helpers – Serve snacks and support dancers, teachers, and volunteers
      • Photo & Social Media Crew – Snap moments of magic and share the experience

Bonus: Want to take the lead? Consider chairing or co-chairing the program in the future—it’s a meaningful and rewarding way to guide this beloved outreach event.
